Correspondence includes letters between Aaron Weeks Raymond and business associates, friends, his son Charles H. Raymond, and other relatives concerning the oil industry and the Raymond oil wells; Raymond investments and the value of family holdings; the bankruptcy of Culver, Penn and Company, in which Aaron Raymond had invested; proposals from Jay Cook for the purchase of land; the construction of a railroad to Oil City, Pennsylvania; the anthracite industry in Raymilton, Pennsylvania; local politics in Franklin, Pennsylvania; and other topics. Also included are Civil War letters to Aaron Raymond from his son and from H.F. Swutzer concerning camp life, social activities, and military campaigns; a Civil War cover; typescript copies of papers relating to Aaron R. Russell; programs; and two autobiographical sketches by Aaron Raymond.
